Measurement and Alignment Systems

Measuring and alignment systems for compation and machining processes

The use of reference clamping systems for machining processes and the pressing of metal and ceramic powders result in a significant increase in productivity and quality. At the same time, the demands on tool, press and adapter accuracy and on the accuracy of the alignment of reference clamping systems to each other are increasing.

A range of measuring and alignment systems guarantees increased accuracy requirements and easy access to pressing and machining processes with reference clamping systems.

Referencing the Z0 levels of reference clamping systems for presses and adaptors

The use of reference clamping systems in the pressing process enables the continuous operation of the Z0 level of the reference clamping systems from tool design to toolmaking through to the press.

The Z0 level defines the clamping base of the tool in the reference chuck in the Z direction. As soon as the Z0 level in the press are referenced to each other, the filling, pressing and ejection positions can be approached precisely by the press control system, taking into account the tool dimensions without an additional presetting process.

The ZRM measuring system uses the precisely known punch lengths to reference the Z0 levels of the reference clamping systems with an accuracy of 1/10 µm.

Adaptation to new compaction tools is only carried out by transferring the current punch lengths and the plunging and tapping data.

Tool and press data can be transferred manually or fully automatically via a tool identification system (RFID, ident code, etc.). The press control calculates the tool data with the reference data of the Z0 levels to the new target positions for filling, pressing and demolding position. The control of the pressing orders, the management of the geometry and application data of the pressing tools and the pressing parameters can be carried out via a process control system (COMPACTION ProGrit) or a database. Compensations based on tool stiffness (compression) and powder data can be calculated and passed on to the press control system.
