Clamping and Positioning Systems
Clamping and Positioning Systems for Highest Precision and Process Forces
The functional principle of the reference chuck is that it is adapted to the process forces that occur. The clamping elements (whether balls, rollers, segments or screws) are chosen to execute the optimal transmission of clamping and process forces.
ZPS Zero Point Clamping System | Zero Point Clamping System for Tools and Fixtures
ZPS
Highest precision and clamping force
Positioning accuracy of +/- 0,002 mm combined with maximum clamping forces of up to 70 000 N.
Modular design
Adaptation to the shape and sizes of tools and workpieces as well as to different fixtures. Built-in and surface-mounted versions available.
Size graduation
Product sizes cover all workpiece and fixture requirements. Minimal installation space with maximum performance possible.
The chuck is opened using compressed air, the workpiece or fixture carrier is inserted, and the clamping pin of the workpiece or fixture carrier is clamped in the spring-based clamping mechanism by depressurizing the chuck. To release the clamping pin, the chuck must be opened again by applying pressure.
The chucks can be operated individually or in multiples in various arrangements and with different pallet shapes. The pallet is inserted manually or automatically with a repeatable positioning accuracy of +/- 0.002 mm.

The patented roller clamping system with multi-shaped clamping rollers enables maximum clamping forces in the smallest spaces. Compared to clamping with balls, four times higher clamping forces are achieved. At the same time, significantly higher pull-out forces can be absorbed.
Basic principle ZPS clamping system
Clamping pins for different accuracy ranges
Depending on the arrangement of the chucks, clamping pins with standard cones or spring-loaded cones are used.
In a one fold arrangement, depending on the desired positioning accuracy, the standard cone or spring-loaded cone clamping pin is used.
Arrangement options
For multiple fold applications, only the spring-loaded clamping pin cone is used. The spring-loaded positioning element of the clamping pin can compensate the positional tolerances of the individual ZPS clamping systems within a high accuracy range. Positioning accuracies of +/- 0.002 mm are possible.
